Each year a 250-strong fleet of classic and custom cars pack Brunswick Heads for the insanely popular Back to Bruns Hot Rod Run. It is a visual feast with everything from a 1927 Dodge Pickup to a 1972 Ford Falcon GT meticulously groomed (in most cases) for the inquisitive crowd. What started as a two-day event in 2008 has grown into a week-long chrome-fest for some of Queensland’s leading hotrodders. Organised by Queensland club End of the Road, the “Rod Run” has become a major event on the Australian Street Rod Federation calendar. Each year they bring over a special guest from overseas (this year it was engine rebuild specialist Mike Herman from H&H Flatheads) who is well-versed in everything woodies, wires and whitewall tires.
